Write for us
We welcome pitches about rural skills, craft, land-based work, tools, seasonal practice and the passing on of know-how. A strong proposal is specific, grounded and useful to a general reader.
What makes a good pitch
Tell us the subject, the central question and what readers will understand by the end. Explain why the topic suits Rural Talent Journal, what sources or experience inform your approach and how you will distinguish general explanation from advice that needs specialist or local checking.
Contributions we welcome
We are interested in clear explainers, careful comparisons, histories of tools or practices, accounts of how a skill is learned and seasonal pieces with a defined purpose. We do not seek unsupported claims, invented experience, hazardous how-to instructions or material that depends on rules readers would need to check locally.
How to send a proposal
Send your pitch through the Contact page and choose the editorial option. Include a working title, a short outline and a brief note on your relevant knowledge or sources. Please send a proposal rather than a completed article unless one has been requested.
Know-how grows through careful practice
We look at rural skills with curiosity and respect for the experience behind them. Our aim is to explain what can be learned safely from ordinary tools, materials, seasons and shared traditions.
